It's raining today, dark, cold and dismal. Muscles and spirits aching, mood faltering and falling with each person that treats you like muck stuck on their boots.
Searching the shadowy ruins of the day for a glimmer of brightness when almost without you noticing, there is a beer and hope in your hand.
Nostrils twitch and flare as massive juicy citus finds its way into your awareness. Orange, tangerine, mandarin, and clementine bouy the soul and beat back the heaviness of the torrents. An impression of sweetness and not tartness leaves my wondering if I'm also getting some stonefruit and pineapple.
The trappings of gloom slide away unnoticed as I begin to admire the cloudy yellow orange coloured liquid in my glass. A nice frothy white head rides easily on top and even after settling, fails to diassapear.
Bright juicy flavours do a lively dance on the tongue. Definitely more tart than anticipated by the nose, but delightfully so. Juicy citrus, pith and rind, orange, grapefruit and kumquat. Some faint hints of pine. There is a maltiness to it but its hard to describe as it's playfully buried in amongst vibrant juiciness.
Sitting back, sighing, smiling and thinking what a grand day its been to lead to this.
