Peach sournova - Almanac - 5,3%.

Extended Quarantine Day #69.
Hazy, lingonberry-mash-colored beer with abundant, sustained carbonation unlocks a faintly pinkish, velvety head that shoots up to three fingers and wants to overpour had I not been vigilant. A bunch of visible particles floats at the bottom of the glass -- they look like blackberry rather than yeast. The foamy hissy stack collapses so that it forms a crater in the center and allows the edges climb significantly higher on the wall of the glass. The retention is very long.
The scent is rich in sour red-purple berries: particularly cranberry, aronia and blackberry pre-warn my taste receptors that something puckering is to come. I can also detect a smaller amendment of sour cherry and distant boysenberry, all seasoned with wet oak barrel but no any other alcohol like whisky, rum or wine. A gentle combination of brettanomyces and lactobacillus lingers additionally to the nostrils. Quite intriguing and reasonably layered.
The tongue receives blackberry, a tad aronia and a silent sigh of rowanberry whereas cranberry moves to the sidelines. A subtle vinous touch lands on the tastebuds, escorted by mixed-culture yeast that actually bears distinct remnants of brettanomyces and lactobacillus. Faint harsh oak barrel lurks in the shadows. Vanilla should also hide somewhere according to the label but I fail to detect it.
The body is light. No surprise at 5.8 % though. The beer finishes with the same blackberry and aronia as before. However, blackberry starts to dominate over aronia and especially cranberry in the finish. Brettanomyces merges with other yeast cultures and almost fades out completely. The aftertaste sends exciting vibes to the tastebuds for a considerably short period only.
The mouthfeel is light, medium-tart and puckering. It's also acidic, surprisingly effervescent, a tad funky and even slightly Belgiany. Furthermore, the mouthfeel is truly distantly woody but not barrel aged in my opinion. Juicy but autumnal rather than springly. Not exactly a winner.

Last time the Almanac didn't fail. So expectations are high.
Can. Canned on 3.5.2019
Temperature: +9 C
Severely over-carbonated beer. The foam bursts out inside the can and rises very high in the glass. Soapy, airy, quick head. The color is nice though, deep red: 2,5/5
The scent is ok but too weak to be impressive: blackberry, vanilla and oak and medium-intensity sourness with pleasant funkiness: 3/5
Mouthfeel is light, too sharp curtesy of the overly high carbonation which really just ruins this. Nice tart and sour feel sticks to the mouth after sip, saving this at least a little: 3,25/5
Taste of blackberry, sourness and Funky flavors. Like the balance: not too funky nor too sour. And the sweetness from the berries really goes well here. However there's something wrong, my guess is that this is not infected but most likely this has been canned too early: the fermentation has not been finished completely. And that indeed seems to be the case. There's a ridiculously amount of sediment when I poured some more beer to glass: 7,5/15
Well, sometimes professionals make mistakes also, but lately, I've had too many bad, contaminated or overly carbonated beers. Am I cursed? 11/20
=27,25/50
