Wild Sour Series: Lynnbrook 4.2%, Destihl Brewery, United States
4 notes
Wild Sour Series: Lynnbrook
4.2% Berliner Weisse
Lynnbrook, named after our founder's family farm, is a wild Berliner-style Weisse with raspberries added. The result is a refreshing, fuchsia-colored beer with an aroma of raspberry-lemon giving way to hints of brie with subtle lemon and yogurt-like flavors supported by tart, fresh raspberries and underlying lactic sourness.

Transparent, deep strawberry-juice-hued beer with fizzy, rushed carbonation frees a snow-white, restrained head. The bubbly layer mumbles rapidly to almost zero. The scent displays overwhelming raspberry mash. That's all. The taste receptors enjoy the powerful, natural raspberry nectar that lies on a thin wheaty mattress. I can also pick a bit of redcurrant and faint apple juice. The light-bodied beer ends with slightly bitter-twisted raspberry mash. The aftertaste rolls on tongue for some time. The mouthfeel is thin, relatively natural, juicy, very gardeny and summery. It's also fairly tart, slightly puckering and effervescent. Overall, quite simple and one-dimensional, yet refreshing too. No need to revisit.
