Intensified Barrel Aged Coffe Porter 11.8%, Brooklyn Brewery, United States
2 notes
Intensified Barrel Aged Coffe Porter
11.8% Porter
Brooklyn Intensified Coffee Porter starts as a big, chocolatey ale, ready to take on super powers. The first power is gained from months of aging in Kentucky bourbon barrels. The second arises from delectable beans harvested by our pals at Finca El Manzano Single Origin Coffee in El Salvador. The final power comes from Blue Bottle Coffee, who roast the coffee to perfection. Brace yourself for complex notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, oak, berries, and dried fruit, coming to intensify you.

4.0
Big aroma of coffee, chocolate, wood from the barrel and bourbon. The mouthfeel is very porterlike. Dry, and not very full. Low to medium carbonation. The taste begins right away with loads of coffee and roasted malts. Turning into strong taste of bourbon and oak. Some dark fruits, and some sour cherry in finish. Sticky and a bit boozy aftertaste. Might come from the aging. Only medium bodied, a little light. Nicely in balance, and a real coffee bomb. Nice strong barrel presence and alcohol well hidden for 11,8 abv. a very good imperial barrel-aged porter. Might be a bit overpriced for a 30 bottle though. 4/5
