Vengeful Barbarian 7.2%, Alvarado Street Brewery, United States
2 notes
Vengeful Barbarian
7.2% India Pale Ale
A staple hazy IPA brewed with the "holy trinity" of hops - Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic. Double Dry Hopped for maximum juice, heaps of oats & wheat for a soft, pillowy texture on the palate. Fermented with an expressive yeast strain that pumps out stone fruit flavors which complement the tropical hop oil contribution.

BEER: Vengeful Barbarian BREWERY: Alvarado Street Brewery BEER STYLE: IPA COUNTRY: USA ABV.: 7.2% COLOUR (EBC): Tangerin Orange (17.0) BITTERS (EBU/IBU): 35.0 AROMA: Malty and bready with some fruity notes. HEAD: Soapy and large bubbled. Mmm. GREY’S VIEW Simcoe, Citra & Mosaic DDH IPA w/ Oats & Wheats. Taste and looks makes me think if this is still alive or not. Anyway. Okay, taste is somewhat bready forward. Biscuits and some dry leafy being there too. Fruits are rare and in the dry side. Air and warmth seems to benefit this…time giving more of ripe mandarins with pineapple juice to the palate. It turns to be somewhat of a old school IPA. Body is riding steady with bubbles and being. It has that firm and confident attitude to it. I start to dig it. Dryes somewhat nicely, yeah. It turns to be bready, ripe fruity and a bit of sprucy piece in the end. OTHER NOTES: Great to have this Barbarian to my portfolio, since I already have that ’Revengeful’ one hanging there. And woah what a journey this was! Tough start turns to be enjoyable and palatable old-school IPA. CANNED 16/11/2021 TASTED 31/1/2022
