Oktoberfest 2019
6.0% Oktoberfest / Märzen
It’s the ultimate season of revelry, so we teamed up with Germany’s Bitburger Brewery for an Oktoberfest that turns backyards into beer gardens. Rally your friends and celebrate with a festbier whose rich amber color and smooth malty flavor bring the Munich tents to you. We brewed Oktoberfest with Bitburger’s custom yeast and secret hop blend called Siegelhopfen, meaning “Sealed Hops”—two house ingredients never shared outside their walls until now.

One of my favorite Märzens. Wish it was available year round

This year's version smells more like a regular lager than other märzens. No rich bready and malty sweet aroma. Taste has a subtle breadiness followed by semisweet malts and no noticeable hop bitterness. Aroma definitely threw me off, but it more than made up for it in the taste. Being a collaboration brew with a German brewery, I should have known better than to doubt them. Medium body with a medium-ish amount of carbonation. I can't say this is the best märzen I've ever had, but it is definitely solid and from what I've read, pretty true to style. 4/5

This is our fifth Oktoberfests in tonight's tasting. Fairly high head. Color is clear, reddish orange. Slight aroma, a little malty. Flavor is mild, light, dry and malty. Finish is light, quick and dry. Compared to the others it's a aroma is less, flavor is not as powerful and more dry. And has a rather empty finish. I was hoping for more.
