Das 04 Gänstaller Kellerbier habe ich auf einer Tour in die Südeifel erstanden. Die Dose mit der Gans sieht prima aus, wie auch das Kellerbier im Glas, daß laut rückseitigenm Aufdruck 'Herangereift in fränkischer Keller-Tradition' sein soll. Schwach ist, dass auf der Dose nichts über die Herkunft dieses Bieres steht. Hell bernsteinfarben und trüb ist's anzuschauen und hat einen länger anhaltenden Schaum zu bieten. Malz, Kräuter und Stachelbeeren sind sowohl geruchlich, als auch geschmacklich die Taktgeber dieses eher süßlichen Kellerbieres. Ein quittenähniches Aroma mit feiner Säure kommt hinzu, bevor es herbbitter wird. Die Bittere steigert sich im Abgang und hallt, bitterer werdend nach. Das ist ein ungewöhnliches, aber leckeres Kellerbier und eine feine Überraschung.

The European pied flycatchers seem to occupy all the birdhouses in the yard. Life is good. 😊 The beer pours semihazy, pale copper. Regular carbonation releases a cloud-white, tiny-bubbled head that grows from the bottom up like a volcano but falls short of one finger eventually. Soon a mere hair-thin lace ring adorns the top. The scent offers turbid malt that merges with a subdued hoppy twist and a bit of orange peel. Furthermore, the olfactory provision is a tad bready and slightly sweet biscuity. The tongue receives nice, medium-sweet pale malt and a restrained fruity hoppy amendment. Bitter orange peel is unmistakable and accompanied by a whisper of bread. Basic tasty piece! The body is light but definitely not thin. The finish raises the hoppy slam in a bit more intense position than upfront. Otherwise unchanged. The aftertaste sneezes constantly because of the pollen while the tastebuds are laughing like there's no tomorrow. The mouthfeel is light, remotely crisp, earthy and rustic. It's also slightly dry and gluggable. Back to basics. Best before is within one week. Who cares. Sinks down easily at 26°C.
