Having a quick pint of stout while waiting for my parents to arrive for a Mothers day visit and lunch. This stout comes in a can with with a nitrogen widget. It pours with a nice cascading bubble effect and makes a standard yet pleasing creamy head that holds its ground and leaves lovely sticky lacing. Its not as blacks some stouts, allowing a rich red to peel through the thinner areas of the glass. The aroma is roasty, and has a mild hint of licorice. It has an nice earthy scent, a wee touch of chocolate, and features some herbal notes from the hops. The mouth feel is quite on par for Irish stouts. Dry, and a bit thin. The taste to me is a mild roast barley with that nudge licorice. Very subtle and pleasing. A nice hint of chocolate appears near the end of the sip. The hops do seem to me a bit herbal but I dont mind it. Nice stout but doesn't stand out to me.
