My mind drifts, possibly as steam as my brain boils in my head. It is decidedly and unseasonably warm today, bordering on hot. The birds serenade each gentle breeze hoping to entice it to linger a little longer. Lush new growth and blooms fill the senses with ample opportunity to ponder their sources. Dreaming of ..... a shattering howl tears asunder my aimless bliss as a neighbor fires up some horrific yard implements or other. Sounds like an industrial vacuum or leaf blower. Either way it sucks or blows.
Oh well guess I'll may as well mow the lawn.... right after this beer.
The haze in this beer seems more like particulate, it shoots to the top and falls again, riding the generous carbonation and resembling a well shaken snow globe.
A bright white merengue like head forms and lasts longer than I care to observe.
The nose doesnt need to work hard to discover grapefruit, orange pith, lemon peel, pineapple, mandarin orange and pine. As I become familiar with the hops components, a hefty aroma that smells like fresh mash on brew day awakens my intrest.
More tropical notes and an oatyness finishes my sniff.
Surprisingly, this is much lighter in body and flavour than anticipated. Gentle and bright citrus, almost watery, are very refreshing, and are given substance by what I will call again oatyness. The malt still retains that fresh mash but is very subtle and brings with it en equally subtle biscuit and possibly digestive cookie.
Definitely a pale ale and not an ipa.
Quite nice, very uplfiting.
