When I see something as odd as this I can't help but satisfy my curiosity.
Pouring a pale clear golden straw colour it displays obvious carbonation in the form of active quickly rising bubbles, but doesn't form any lasting head. Upon further and closer inspection I see small particulate throughout the beer.
My nose is at first confused but as it grasps the idea of what is happening begins to isolate and enjoy the aromas. A very gentle and unidentifiable tropical fruitiness or perhaps peach, competes for attention with a lovely almost chocolatey coffee. I dont know how global a reference it is but what I liken to a Coffee Crisp candy bar.
In a way I'm glad that the taste is predominantly smooth light roast coffee, with little hops taste because I think this could go sideways easily.
There is vanilla bean added to this beer and it helps this drink figure out what it's doing. I must say there is a mild fruitiness from the hops but really they are pushed aside and almost forgotten in the sip. This is a strange brew.
There is a coffee lager I've had that is high in my favorites list and this reminds me of it but falls very short of making a place on any tops list. I'd have it again out of curiosity. It's not bad but seems pointless.
