It's been just over a year since I last had this one. Let's see what a year in the cellar did. Bourbon, chocolate and a little bit of lactose and oak in the aroma. Taste has bourbon, lactose, chocolate and oak in that order. For only being 6.5% abv, the bourbon is very well represented in the flavor. Oak and bourbon linger in the aftertaste. Medium, almost medium-full, body with a medium medium amount of carbonation. On taste alone, I'd believe it if someone told me this was 10+%. It's not super boozy, but the flavor of the bourbon is strong and flavorful, without dominating the other flavors. Well done. 4.25/5

Tasty stout. The thing that impresses me the most is the amount of bourbon that comes through with this only being 6.5%. I've got a few in the cellar that I'll enjoy down the road. 4/5

I've not had the base version of this one, but I'm excited to try the bourbon barrel aged version. Chocolate, lactose sweetness, roasted malts and bourbon are in the aroma. Taste has the lactose sweetness and bourbon front and center. Following this, I'm getting some chocolate notes and slightly roasted malts. Some oak towards the mid-palate and back end. The bourbon lingers into the aftertaste. For being only 6.5% abv, this beer picked up a lot from the barrel aging and drinks bigger than it is (in a good way), with qualities of a stout in the area of 10% abv. Medium+ body with a medium-ish carbonation. Very well done. This was aged in Four Roses Bourbon barrels, according to the bartender at the brewery, and it definitely shows. High quality, tasty bourbon in this one. The interplay between the bourbon and the lactose is great. I'm glad I grabbed 4 bottles, but I wish I grabbed more. The other 3 are going in the cellar. I can't quite go 4.5, but it's a high 4.25/5
