Since I've reseived positive feedback about this beer from Maistila, Sonnisaari and Coolhead, I thought I share my thoughts about this one here. So maybe some of you homebrewers can get some ideas? Bottle. Bottled on: 23.11.2018 Temperature: +12 degrees Dark brown beer with beige color head. Soft, creamy looking foam with fairly good retention Nose: smooth roastiness with coffee notes. Toasty oak aroma is pretty evident and is mixing nicely with roasty coffee. Some licorise but unfortunately very light vanilla. Vanilla is only noticebly as a faint sweet aroma. Mouthfeel: medium-full, with noticebly bitterness and oak charecter. Soft carbonation, some alcohol warmth. To me, I find this a bit too light. (Fg of this beer is 1,023) . Some of the professional brewers said the same thing but others liked the lighter-than-usual mouthfeel descriping it as a "nice" and "easier to drink than many other Imperial stouts". Taste: licorise, coffee, oak, chocolate, mild roastiness and lactose sweetness. Very minor alcohol touch. One of the brewers noticed a slight fruity esters but I don't find it personally. Vanilla, sadly, isn't here. Overall: even though this is still a fairly young beer the flavours are well developed. The French heavy toast oak chips are quite strong with the "oaky sting" but the sweetness from lactose and the water profile used aid to cut some of that sharp sting more softer. Biggest flaw for me is the missing vanilla and too light mouthfeel but like I said, some of the professional brewers liked it. Overall I concider this one as a success and this is only getting better with time :) Feedback from the brewers will definately help to make better beer in future so if you are a homebrewer, take your beers to the professionals because they will most likely give you a constructive feedback :)
