I remember liking, but not loving the non-BBA version of this. Bourbon first in the aroma. Underneath this, I'm getting nutmeg, slight cinnamon, clove and allspice. Taste has cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, with the bourbon that was so prominent in the aroma, showing up last in the taste. Griffin Claw has been kind of hit and miss with me lately, but this is definitely a hit. One I will definitely look for yearly for the Christmas season. Just like the non-BBA version, there is some honey in this, adding some sweetness to help balance the spices. Very well made winter warmer. One of the best winter beers I've had. If the bourbon was a bit more prominent, and perhaps a bit of oak from the barrel aging, I'd rate this even higher. 4.5/5
