Liquid midnight in a glass allowing only the tiniest glint of brown to show when subjected to a flashlight test. Lush 1.5 finger head the color of pale chocolate milk. Rich deep aromas of creamy chocolate, smooth dark coffee, oats, an almost cream liqueur scent and some bitterness from the roast barley buried deep underneath. I know there is not any hint of orange in it but the combinations of malts and hops leave a faint suggestion in the background. Creamy, soft, thick, and oily, it boasts a strong hefty body and coats the mouth like milk. Chocolate, coffee, roast barley, molasses, possibly a whisper of licorice and vanilla, parts of it.remind me of a coffee liqueur. Big vaporous alcohol warms the palate. It has a sweetness but combined with the mellow bitterness and big boozy taste it works just wonderfully. One of the best stouts I've had in a while. Might have to buy some to age it.
