The pinnacle of the brewers’ craft. The ale by which all others should be measured. With its famous cloudy sediment and its distinctive balance of malt, hops and fruity characters, the old ‘Red Label’ is a tasty slice of Coopers history. Sparkling Ale contains no additives or preservatives.

Although this appears to be like most ales, the title 'sparkling ale' invokes images of something different. Poured well from the bottle, not too much foam, and a little sediment made it's way out at the end too. Body is amber, touching on brown, with only trace amount of off white head. Scent is very malty, lots of sweet bread, some cracker, barley and grass. Mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing. Most ales I've had have been sparkling but this does seem more crisp than the rest. Carbonation passes and a mild foaminess rolls in. Taste is strong sweet bread notes at first, an underlying bitterness makes itself known which compliments the sweetness well. The dry cracker taste follows and a slight red ale/copper taste comes to the fore. Not bad, very good for a hot day.
