Tumman ruskea olut tuhdilla vaahdolla, tuoksu makean maltainen, melassinen. Maku makea, tuhti, täyteläinen ja yrttinen. Suutuntuma paksu ja kevyen hapokas, jälkimaku säilyy pitkään suussa. Ryhdikäs ja komea olut!

I just can’t get enough of this stuff! Possibly my favourite beer of 2022, pairs fantastically with a shot of blackcurrant balsams…

How I’ve not come across this before I don’t know, but what a pleasure! This review can’t be done without references to Rīgas Black Balzams which this flavour replicates so well. I’m guessing that’s the yarrow. It also can’t be done without referencing it’s likeness to a cascadian dark ale, I assume which is thanks to the Citra hops. It’s strong, dark and bitter with powerful piney and citrus flavours as well as liquorice and aniseed. So good I bought a bottle back to our rental and supped another before the night was out. Absolute banging beer! 🍺

Obscure herbs and bitter hops. Armed and dangerous. Pitch black, but turns red agaist light, like a bad omen. This is Riga Black Balsam reborn as beer. The aroma has that herb liqueur vibe. Pairs well with doom metal.
