Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #13 Bottled 10-7-2019 Bourbon, oak and chocolate and vanilla notes in the aroma. Taste has chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and oak in that order. No adjuncts in this one, so this is purely from the malts used and the time spent in the barrel. The body is full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. This is one that's released yearly. I have more recent batches, but the older ones are the best. They raised the abv from the original 13% to around 14.6% and it's still tasty, but not nearly as good. This one blew my mind when I first had it and it's aging beautifully. Solid 4.75/5

Advent Calendar Day #17 2019 vintage. The original release before they upped the abv. Bourbon, chocolate and coffee notes and roasted malts in the aroma. Taste has bourbon and oak first, followed by roasted malts and notes of chocolate and coffee. The body is full with a silky smooth mouthfeel and an appropriately low amount of carbonation. Such a wonderful beer. This one's been in the cellar for about 2 years and it's still just as amazing as I remember it being. 5/5

Friends beer share on August 14th 2019 vintage. Bourbon and chocolate notes in the aroma. Taste has smooth bourbon, oak, along with light chocolate and coffee notes. Tasty. High 4.25/5

Canned on: 11.1.2021 Temperature: +15 C The color is close to black. About one finger tall head fizzles away quickly but stays on the edges for quite some time. The beer looks light-bodied based on the texture: 3,5/5 The aroma lets you know this is a big beer. Nice Bourbon barrel and also Bourbon-like alcohol greets you first. Then comes bittersweet chocolate with some earthy hues. Although this starts big, the aroma becomes quite dull and quite fastly so. Feels like this is lacking complexity BBA 14,6% ABV beer should have: 3,75/5 The mouthfeel is indeed quite light. But it doesn't bother me as much as it does in some other beers with high ABV content. This never turns watery and the barrel plus bitterness duo are doing nice work here. Both are present and help to keep the beer together: 4/5 The taste has a bit more complexity than the scent. Starts with a mixture of Bourbon, barrel, and bittersweet chocolate flavors. Then notes of coffee, and malty sweetness. The beer finishes with a long warming, bitter aftertaste: 11/15 Decent high ABV beer but this is the kind of beer that, even though good, is far from perfect... A good amount of flavors, good bitterness, good barrel aging, but still, everything could be even better. Hard to explain: 15,25/20 =37,5/50

Mun noin (yli) 100 pullon/tölkin kaljakaappi on liian täynnä. Edes yhtä olutta sinne ei mahdu. Päätin ottaa ensimmäisen kaljan sen enempiä miettimättä, jotta sain KBS19 kypsymään. Tämä se sitten oli. UT 4.33 ja pullotettu 04/09/2018. Pint-olut nr. 1250. Tuoksussa tietenkin pehmeää tynnyriä, mutta myös suklaista makeutta. Sanoisin että sellainen perinteisempi tynnyri-imperial. On muuten pehmeää ja sopivan makeaa. Paljon kivoja suklaisia ja kahvin paahteista makuja. Aikasta kiva. Toki tällaisiä bourbon-tynnyrioluita on suuhun laitettu monesti aiemminkin, joten tämä ei erotu mitenkään muiden yläpuolelle. Tykkäsin silti.

One of the best non-adjunct stouts I've ever had. Perfect balance of bourbon from the barrel aging, chocolate notes, coffee notes, vanilla and oak. World class beer and thankfully this time I have multiples to enjoy over time. 5/5

Kevyen oloista olutta lasiin. Vaahto häviää äkkiä. Tuoksu on makean tynnyrinen ja siirappinen. Maku on kevyt, tammitynnyrinen, kevyen makea, hieman viskinen. Alkoholi lämmittää mukavasti muttei maistu juurikaan, aavistuksen viskinä. En oikein löydä kahvia, vaniljaa taikka suklaata. Suutuntuma hieman ohkainen. Hiukan tahmaava. Untappdin pisteistä (4.35) päätellen olisin jotain vähän mahtavampaa odottanut, vähän syvyyttä ja enemmän makuja. Hyvä ja helposti juotava olut siihen nähden, että on 13%. Viskin ystävällä varmaan lasi tyhjenee alta aikayksikön.

Bourbon, oak and chocolate in the taste. This is phenomenal. Rich thick body with an appropriately lower carbonation. 5/5
