Tuoksu on hyvä: sherryä, viskiä, marjaisuutta, tummaa limppua. Mutta maku onkin sitten eri: ihmeellisen kevyttä marjaista mehua, ei tukevuutta, ei öljymäistä, ei makeutta, ei viskiä. Rahan ja ajan hukkaa...

En oikein odottanut mitään pääsiäisestä, vaikka se onkin kuulema kirkkovuoden tärkeimpiä juhlia. Otin silti oluen, jos toisenkin. Päädyin lähipubiin ja näin tämän kylmäkaapissa olevan tarjolla. "Viskitynnyrissä kypsynyt olut"- olin myyty jo pelkästä ajatuksesta. Lasiin kaatuu tummaa, kevyellä vaahdolla tulevaa olutta. Vaahto ehtii kuitenkin jo kadota juomaa maksaessani, hieman petyn nyt. Maistetaanpas! Olen liian ahne haistelemaan olutta, joten menen suoraan asiaan! Stuntti seis, ei, hetkonen! En odottanut tällaista makua. Sour, bitter.. mikä se on? Tässä se on! En ole missään nimessä fani, enkä ole nytkään. Toivottavasti joku hapanhammas löytää tästä itselleen oman suosikin, mutta sinä joka odotit viskiä; älä vaivaannu!

Normaali vaahtoinen. Käytännossä mustaa. Tuoksussa luumua. Maussa wiskitynnyri tulee päällimmäisenä esiin. Aavistus vaniljaa ja hienoista paahteisuutta. Toinen kotikaupungin ylpeys.

Melko pirtsakan makuinen stoutti, ei huono 👍

Maukas, hedelmäinen olut, jossa tulee esille hyvin humalan maku. Mausta huomaa myös, että valmistus on tapahtunut viskitynnyrissä.

Door #19 of my Advent calendar is in turn today. Opaque, pitch black beer with restrained, short-lived carbonation unlocks a light fawn, surprisingly frothy, porous head that elevates up to two fingers and descends beautifully to a silky mattress capping the surface. The nose loves the soft, attractive aromas of milk chocolate, dark cocoa nibs, a bit of mocha and a distant oaky twist. The fruity sherry barrel overcomes the oaky bourbon nuance but both of them are, nevertheless, distinctly depictable. With a bit of patience and allowing the beer to open up releases even softer, more chocolatey and fruitier olfactory elements to the nostrils. This is so far very promising. But! The palate punches the mouth with a big surprise: very fruity, even somewhat vinous taste where neither dark chocolate nor whiskey can be detected. What?? Is this supposed to be like that? I'm not saying that I'm disappointed but I surely am astonished. I expected something totally different... I get a nice pour of white wine, bags of sour apple, a smaller injection of green grape and remote white currant. In a way, appealing but still... where did the Porter disappear? I have probably never encountered with a Porter that tastes like a fruity white wine cocktail. I don't know what to say. Confusing indeed! The body is light-medium to medium. Not Porter-like at all. The beer finishes with relatively vinous apple and green grape, poured on by a good dollop of dry white wine. If I really try, I can imagine a drop of coffee in the aftertaste that vanishes from the mouth after a while. The mouthfeel is strongly tart, rather vinous and a tad puckering. It's also surprisingly light, dry and somewhat mouth-drying. My confusion prohibits me from rating this very high but I surely like this. This is unique and truly unpredictable but simultaneously also un-Porter-like. Is it acceptable or not -- I don't know.
