Black Chocolate Stout
10.0% Imperial Stout
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style, once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specially roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Un Imperial Sout à la base maltée torréfiée, aux magnifiques notes chocolatées, une pointe caféinée, quelques notes de pruneaux, on a une belle petite amertume, c'est puissant, bien équilibré, vraiment trés bon.

I bought this in a bottleshop in Norfolk, Virginia in 2019. Just looked the place up and sadly they closed at Christmas, not just the British hospitality industry taking a shafting then! 😢 It’s sat in my beer fridge ever since waiting for the opportune moment to drink… It was serving on Her Majesty’s Flagship that took me over there and today I received my draft to what will later this year become, His Majesty’s Flagship of the Fleet. So, it seems a fitting beer to celebrate with 🍻 What a lovely beer! Intense and complex malt flavours abound. Bitter dark chocolate, coffee and roast malts as well as hints of smoke and leather. Almost fruity, the intensity of the bitterness gives off hints of dried forest fruits and liquorice. Really enjoying the layers of flavours! It’s remained well carbonated, cutting through the rich character well. No hints of any off-flavours at all, so it’s held up very well over the years.
