Bourbon hits the nose first. Oak from the barrel aging is next. Caramel is last to show up, but smells great. Caramel and oak are first in the taste, with the bourbon following. This is a nice beer. The bourbon barrel character is a tasty addition to what is probably already a great brown ale. It's prominent without being dominating. A higher medium body mixed with a moderate carbonation is a great compliment to this beer. I don't remember where I bought this, but if I see it again, I'll grab another bomber or two. 4.25/5
