One of my favourite breweries has released this well and proper hazy IPA.
It seems lately that some breweries idea of what constitutes a hazy IPA is actually hazier than the ber they are trying to make. This is not that.
A lovely fruit juice bruised yellow colour emanating waves of citrus fruit aromas including orange, grapefruit, and a little lemon. Tucked neatly in amongst those are some tropical notes that remind me of mango and papaya. After resting a bit mild suggestions of pineapple appear.
It surrounds the tongue with a lush and and generous juicy flavour. What seems like it may be bitterness builds to a more tart crescendo. They list an ibu of 35 but it tastes like more.
The flavour could be called juicy but it tastes to me like oaty (although I don't believe there are oats in it) pine and grapefruit. The malt forces it's way into the the profile and succeeds, but loses its identity and becomes a more homogeneous entity that is noticeably malt but is hard to label as relating to any particular taste.
