Skull Splitter
8.5% Scottish Ale
Skull Splitter is our strongest ale: which is named after Thorfinn Einarsson who was the 7th Viking Earl of Orkney. Sophisticated, satiny smooth with a deceptively light character, it is a tribute to our colourful forbear.

Pour's heavy into the glass. Deep reddish brown color that's very dark but clear. Head is frothy and thick, died down a little but seems to be lasting. Aroma brings sweet dark malt, some dark fruit emerges. Texture is soft and smooth, effortlessly glides in the mouth. Dark sweet malt, again the sweet dark stone fruit. The alcohol is evident but not overpowering. My favorite Imperial stouts pack way more punch. The finish refuses to relinquish the flavor. This is a pleasant level of alcohol for someone like me that's not planning on drinking several hours of this in a friendly atmosphere. It's best enjoyed sparingly and perhaps something else would be better suited for a festive night out. I enjoyed this very much as a unique and gratifying experience.
