Cranachan
9.5% Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy
Brewed in collaboration with Cromarty Brewing Co. Inspired by our favourite Scottish Dessert we brewed this decadent Scotch Ale with raspberries, toasted oatmeal, honey and cream then aged it for two years in highland whisky barrels.

Buxton beers have all been good but I wish I'd find that brilliant one! Bottle. Bottled on: 18.1.2018 Temperature: +12,5 degrees This has a really weird red-brown color. Almost like rust. Very cloudy. Off-white head is uneven and it forms a circle around the surface, eventually leaving laces behind: 4,25/5 Nose: raspberrys coming very strong with toasty and malty aromas. Sweetness, like candy... Extremely mild barrel aged notes despite this has been aged for two years in whisky barrels. This is really weird. I like it but also do not🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️3,75/5 Mouthfeel is medium-full, tart, medium-low carbonation... Weirdness continues. This is something I definately wouldn't expect from Scotch ale: 2,75/5 Taste: raspberry jam, malts, toasted flavours, oatmeal, (where the hell is the barrel/whisky?!) 9/15 Ummm, ömmmmm, hmmm... I don't really like this, I don't really hate this. This is just all around weird brew. Not a boring one, that's for sure. Part of me wants to drink more and part of me wants to ditch this like its my ex: 12,75/20 =32,5/50

5.1.2019 Nopeahko vaahto. Vadelmaimen tuoksu. Suutuntumassa vahvasti marjaisuutta. Jälkifiilis mummonmarjamehuinen. Hämmentävä olut

Melkoinen olut. Marjaisuutta, vadelmaa. Paahteisuutta. Ja kunnon tukeva silaus viskiä. Ristiriitainen ja hieman sekava. Hyvä. Kiitokset veljelle lahjuksesta.

Cloudy, almost muddy, Scottish Dessert Ale with some particles floating around. Crisp raspberries, toasted oats, creamy honey and whiskey barrel aging creates a lovely combo. Finishing back to crisp raspberries. Inspired by Scottish dessert Cranachan. Never have had one but now I want one ☝️

Olipas erikoinen tapaus. En ollut kummemmin perehtynyt tuotteeseen niin yllätyksenä tuli tuo väri. Oikein outo olut. Hyvää on. 4-

I ordered this from Brewdog's online store. It pours an unusual cloudy dark brown and red colour with a thin brown head. Aroma is of raspberry and chocolate. Flavour is of raspberry as soon as it hits the tongue. It's initially tart, then sweet, then a lingering tartness. It is quite thick in the mouthfeel. Buxton are known for making or collaborating on some great imperial strength beers and this is no exception.
