Stopped by the brewery to visit their tasting room on a rainy fall day.
Very nice and quite comfortable. I must make a point to stop in when I've more time to stay longer.
Bought this beer as a squealer fill.
Pours a nice dark black with rich red highlights. A generous loosely packed dirty colored head add visual appeal and as it lingers promises a nice mouthfeel.
The inhale reaveals surprising rich deep complex aromas which include roasted cacao, nut, licorice, cold brew coffee, and earthy notes all well used mild proportions. There are some hops notes too. The come across to me as mild bitterness and light fruitiness, currant, and a peppery spice.
The body is heavy enough and the flavour profile is much like anticipated only substantially more bitter.
Tart black currant, roasted cacao, chocolate, hazel nut, a little oily, and lupulin.
Definitely tasty and not lacking in any departments. I think slightly less bitterness would be nice but I'd have this again. Aftertaste is bitter roasty and earthy. Not one for the timid of taste I think.
