Vanilla Stout, England
3.5
Opaque, black beer with decent carbonation builds a good two-finger, fawn, medium-sized-bubbled head that gradually descends to a thinner lacing. A pretty nice lace ring, though, adorns the top for quite some time. The nose senses rather dry dark malt, a bit burned nuance and a substantially remote intuition of delicate vanilla. The palate offers dark malt that gains relatively dry and slightly burned elements. It's interesting since I expected something sweeter. But I don't mind, this goes down well. Vanilla can barely be depicted, it's merely a sigh in the silence. The body is light-medium to medium. The beer ends with somewhat dry, burned malt with a mild ashy twist. As if a bit of rye bread was there, not sure though. Vanilla is certainly absent. The tastebuds have to deal with a rather prolonged aftertaste. The mouthfeel is somewhat dry, burned and distantly ashy. It's not thin but not full either. It's also a bit husky and very little lip-glueing.
