Phillips has a habit of making some very good beer, and as love a quality pilsner/lager, I've got some fairly lofty expectations for a tasty brew here. Oh and making any good beer "Imperial" is just an added bonus. It boasts an attractive crystal clear golden hue which an aggressive carbonation that pours a 2 finger head. The bubbles don't last too long and fade back to a respectable thin layer. Aromatically promising whith a grainy malt base and the scent of noble hops it smells exactly as I hoped it would. Like a well built pils. In the mouth the medium light body would seem crisp but for a lingering sweetness from the grainy malt. It also presents some breadiness which is nice. It is hopped well and appropriately and is almost perfect except the massive boozy flavour the alcohol smacks you with. It feel to me a bit forced to get to imperial standards. A bit too much malt to achieve the alcohol content. Its still very good and I'm definitely picking at the minutiae to find flaws.
