This is the last bottle of this beer.....For now, and probabaly in this incarnation. So I thought I'd do a re review to see how it has aged and if I get the same impressions from it. It pours a dark starless midnight black easily defeating the flashlight test. A two finger dark tan head builds but fades quickly. Aromas of chocolate, dark coffee, licorice, and an herbal note from the hops, and a dark roast barley. The body is medium and lightly oily almost creamy mouthfeel. Rich flavors of chocolate, burnt coffee, salted licorice and dark roasted barley. The herbal hops note rides through with a bit of chocolate and roasty darkness to for a mild short lived aftertaste. This falls somewhere between a Irish stout and a oatmeal. It is pretty tasty and an i don't mind saying "I made that."

Oh wow yes. Dark black pour bursting with chocolate aroma. Flavors of caramel, chocolate and tiny bit of roasty coffee... much les smoky than murder most unkind. Delishious Gord. Lovely brew - I do lile thos stout best, its more filled out in body. Thicker. But could be thicker still...i think ;) More oatmeal lol ! Very good thank you for blessing me with the oppertunity yo try one more of your fantastic creations.

This is the third batch of beer I have made. An oatmeal stout. It's called Grandma's Old Stick because my Grandmothers old beer brewing stir stick was.found and given to me. I did not use it but had it with me the whole brew day and let it rest on top the fermenter while the yeast worked, then left it in with the bottles whilst they aged. It pours black as coal and releases a 2 finger coffee colored head. Aromas are of roast barley, dark chocolate, scorched molasses, spent coffee grounds, chocolate and mild tar. Taste is very roast barley, but also caramel, molasses, chocolate and a light herbal note from the hops. The body is medium and the mouthfeel is a bit light especially for an oatmeal stout. Over all it's not bad but need less roast barley and less hops I think.
