More than 200 years ago, popular Porters were hearty beers, but some brewers made them even stronger to be shipped across the North Sea. Thus the name, Baltic Porter, and this full bodied, strong and heavy beer. Aromas and flavors share notes of smooth chocolate, plumes and prunes, caramel and toffee, resulting in a depth of character not unlike a proper Port. Complexity evolves as it warms, and although malt forward, each sip results in a pleasing, semi-dry finish.
